Using Reference Clips in Davinci Resolve 14
When a client gives you project to color grade, the first thing you want to make sure that when you conforming the actual raw files with EDL or XML files, you get the right picture.
Life of a film colorist is tough, especially when it turns out that you been grading completely wrong footage. When working as a freelancer you want to minimize extra amount of work as much as possible, therefore, get things done right, before you going to start grading. When clients gives you the project files, don’t be shy to ask director or producer, or whoever handles the material, to send you final editing proxy file. It’s a nice and easy way to make sure what you conforming is actual stuff, because a lot of times, EDL and XML workflows are not reliable without reference clip.
